Called ahead for boudin balls at the enterprise Blvd location (they have two, the other is on common st by McNeese), got there and they were ready! Their food is always fresh...the best chicken, fried fish, and shrimp in the area...prices are great...they make it hard to choose so if it's your first time there, get the super sampler...it comes with 1 fried catfish fillet, 3 fried shrimp, 1 boudin balls, 1 pc of your choice of chicken, AND a side for just $9.99!!! Get you some!

Soooo....not as impressed as I thought I was going to be. And the shady location and dead flies in the window sill weren't even a factor. It was when I saw her dump frozen okra from a huge bag into the fryer and the packets of tarter sauce and thousand island dressing. I expected a place like this to have home made sauces and friend okra. The fried catfish was a little flavorless but had good crunchy texture. If they had a good homemade dipping sauce for it it would've been much better. The pros: really good fried chicken and shrimp. Red beans and rice were piping hot so it took a while to taste those but they were yummy. Friendly staff. A little disappointed. Probably won't come back.

Ball's fried chicken is BALLLLIN, pun intended. Also awesome sides: red beans and rice, potato salad, and fried okra. Definitely a great place to stop on the way to Mardi Gras!!

Perfectly seasoned, perfectly cooked fried chicken. The popcorn shrimp was excellent too. The sweet potato pie was fantastic. Excellent friendly service too. Thanks!!

Pros: Chicken was really, really good. Very crispy, juicy and not greasy. We both got the 2pc special which included a side, a roll, and a drink. Very reasonable price. Restaurant was clean. A nice lady was cleaning off the tables with disinfectant while we were there. Staff was friendly. Food was ready really fast also. Seems like a lot of returning customers came in while we were there, because when people walked in, everybody was on a first name basis. Cons: Sides were mediocre at best. I suppose they spend a lot of time perfecting the chicken that sides are an afterthought. The red beans and rice were very, very bland. I tasted no seasoning whatsoever. Fries were not salted, also bland. Adding salt when they aren't fresh from fryer helped a little but not much since most of salt fell off. Roll was standard dinner roll. I ate half a bite and tossed it. Summary: I will return for the chicken, but will order ONLY chicken next time. It is really, really good and is worth it.

My goodness!! This is so good. It's always been the same-delicious!! Man o man, it's great and inexpensive. This is the original location. They have other great deals (fried fish, boudin balls, pork chops). The sides are really great. We each got a 2 piece dark with 1 side each (red beans and rice and French fries).

Don't pass it up because of the exterior. Boudin balls are rockin' and the fried chicken is smokin'! We didn't call ahead for the boudin so we waited, and we were not disappointed. Who needs dipping sauce when they're this good. Chicken was crisp and spicy. I read other reviews, but did not think the sides were lacking in seasoning at all. Red beans and rice were flavorful and the potato salad was a nice and cooling contrast to the heat generated by the chicken. Loved it.

Traffic jam on I-10 had us looking for food so we stopped in here. The fried chicken is delicious. Crispy battered skin, with hints of pepper and cayenne. My chicken breast was probably one of the juiciest I've ever had fried. Red beans and rice were solid too. Best part was the service. Just great people who love and appreciate their food. Welcomed me and my buddy in like we were their friends. The people of Louisiana have that special friendliness that is welcoming, joyful and genuine. Can't recommend this place enough.

Probably some of the best fried chicken ever, and I've tried most of them. This is not spicy chicken a la Popeye's, but well-seasoned. You'll taste salt, white pepper, and a hint of cayenne. There is nothing fancy here. Just good old fashioned, Sunday go to camp meeting fried chicken. Prices are cheap too. Last visit, we got an 8-pc dark for $5.99. Highly recommended.

This is the best fried chicken in Lake Charles. They really now how to season there food. (SPICY) Also the prices are much cheaper than Popeyes. There is also another location on Common Street east of McNeese State University.

Fast food...Balls has great fried chicken if you like it super spicy.... Has been a staple in LC for MANY years, if you have that hunger for some nasty delicious grease dripping down your arm great chicken, THIS IS IT.

My friend from Lake Charles took me here because I went to the South with my stomach leading the way, and my stomach always says yes to fried chicken! For a small town diner type place, I expected bigger chicken and larger quantity for the price, but they ended up being rather small though quite juicy. I have to say I felt a little nauseated by the grease and low quality sides, but the stripped down look of the place and the focus on fried chicken made it authentic. In addition, the staff certainly had a set of "Ball's" for the ladies. During our entire time at the drivethrough, the employees definitely worked their finesse while another dropped tact all together, flashing his gold-capped tooth in front of the fryer and waving at us coquettishly.

Great chicken here. The chicken and fries are so well seasoned that i cant bring myself to stray from them to try anything else. The smell is deliciously intoxicating.
